Ocean Science Summer

Ocean Science Summer

June 4, 2012

Every year, undergraduates come to WHOI for the Summer Student Fellowship Program to gain first-hand experience in ocean science. The students, mentored by WHOI scientists, spend the summer attending science talks and doing research projects. They may work in labs or the surrounding Cape Cod environment; some even go on research trips farther afield. Fellows have presented their results at scientific meetings, co-authored scientific publications, and several have returned as MIT/WHOI Joint Program students. The 2011 Fellows, above, assembled for a photo, and the 2012 group will arrive soon. The  National Science Foundation, the U.S. Geological Survey, and private donations support the program.(Photo by Tom Kleindinst, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution)
