A Visionary Fellow

Vice President for Academic Programs and Dean Jim Yoder (left) gave U.S. Senator Scott Brown (Mass.) an overview of WHOI’s science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) program in August 2011. On February 23, The Oceanography Society will recognize Yoder as a 2012 fellow  for his “innovative and visionary application of satellite ocean color technologies to interdisciplinary oceanography and his extraordinary service to oceanography.” Since 2005, he has been responsible for the institution’s renowned education programs and activities, including the postdoctoral program, graduate program and undergraduate summer programs.(Photo by Jayne Doucette, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution)
