SUMMARY:THE WOODS HOLE FILM FESTIVAL
DESCRIPTION:The Woods Hole Film Festival’s “Dinner & A Movie” series continues with a special screening of the feature documentary Cosmic Coda by Mary-Jane Doherty\, on Sunday\, May 17 at 3 p.m. in WHOI’s Redfield Auditorium\, 45 Water Street\, Woods Hole. Doors open at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $18 general admission/$14 members/$10 students & military. Cosmic Coda  is a film about the in-between moments of scientific discovery – how it feels going to work each day on a machine that tests both the limits of our universe\, and our ability to comprehend this mind-boggling goal. Tickets are available in advance at www.woodsholefilmfestival.org and at the door if not sold out. After the screening\, ticket holders may receive a discount on the meal portion of dinner at Quahog Republic Leeside Pub\, 29 Railroad Avenue\, Woods Hole\, and at The Captain Kidd Restaurant\, 77 Water Street\, Woods Hole. On Saturday\, June 6\, from 3 – 4:30 p.m.\, join WHOI Sea Grant and the Woods Hole Film Festival for a screening of Women on the Water\, a 45-minute documentary about the changing face of the seafood industry. A panel discussion with Massachusetts fishers will follow. Panelists will include: Rachel Hutchinson\, panel moderator\, WHOI Sea Grant and Cape Cod Cooperative Extension; Emma Green Beach\, director of the MV Shellfish Group; Jenny Ross from Cataumet Fish and Sea State Foods; Amy Croteau\, Town of Barnstable shellfish constable; and Deb Hill from By the Bay Shellfish\, Barnstable Harbor. SUMMARY:WOODS HOLE PUBLIC LIBRARY (WHPL)
DESCRIPTION:Join local artists Dawna Hammers & Sue Beardsley for an inspiring program centered on the healing power of music and the quiet strength of caregiving on June 22\, 2026\, from 3-4 p.m. The program will begin with a screening of “Music is Medicine\,” a short documentary video produced by Dawna Hammers thanks to a grant from the Cape Cod Art’s Foundation. The video explores how music can uplift\, connect\, and comfort individuals facing physical & cognitive challenges. Following the film\, artist and author Sue Beardsley will present a brief talk on her new book\, “Comfort\,” a daily reflection guide created to support caregivers of those living with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Complimentary copies of “Comfort” will be available\, and attendees are invited to stay for an author signing with Sue Beardsley and a short sing-along with Dawna Hammers. Thoughtful and engaging\, this program offers insight\, encouragement\, and a sense of community for caregivers\, families\, and all who are drawn to the role of creativity in healing. Caregivers and their loved ones are more than welcome to come!
