WOODS HOLE PUBLIC LIBRARY: Jerry Schneider, naturalist and educator
August 13, 2019 @ 4:00 pm
Jerry Schneider, naturalist and educator from Hardwick, Vermont, is returning to Woods Hole this summer to present his most recently developed program for children on August 13 at 4 p.m. His presentation extends the library’s “Pollinator Series” started earlier in the season. The first part of “Making Space for Pollinators” is a slide presentation of some of our local pollinators, featuring photos of butterflies, bees, and bats. He will explain how to build and maintain habitats that help our pollinator populations, what flowers to grow in our gardens to attract butterflies and bees, and what time of year for mowing fields that is most beneficial to pollinators. After the slide show, children will create “pollinator tee shirts” using a combination of fabric dye sprays, plants, and butterfly, bat and dragonfly cut outs. Children may purchase heavy cotton tee shirts for $4, or bring their own. Otherwise, the event is free and open to the public.
