Science objectives
Overall objective is to test revision to Jumbo Piston Corer handling system at a location where the expected cores will be useful for paleoclimate work and where the water is shallow enough that we will not be wasting "wire" time.Science Activities
Multicore, gravity core, and piston core several locations along the western flank of Hudson Canyon at a range of water depths between 500 and 2500 m. We will also test rigging the piston corer as a heavy, large diameter gravity corer at continental shelf locations where a record of climate change would be valuable but sandy sediment will reduce penetration.Pre-cruise planning meeting: Teleconference
