Science objectives
Secure borehole CORKs for subsequent drilling Expedition 327 (JULY 5 TO Sept 5).Download pressure data
Collect fluids from CORK fluid delivery lines for geochemical (inorganic and organic) and molecular biology studies.
Science Activities
- Collect basement fluids from 1301A using Mobile Pumping System (MPS) and Large Volume Bag Sampler (LVBS).
- Collect Gas-Tight samples from 1301A using MPS
- Deploy Large Volume In Situ Filtration (LVISF) to 1301A for overnight+ filtration of large volumes.
- Attempt collection of fluids from 1301B using MPS and LVBS and Gas-Tights
- Remote flushing of fluids from 1025C using MPS and LVBS and Gas-Tights
- Collect fluids from 1301A, 1301B, 1025C, 857D?, 1026B, with Ti-Majors and Syringe samplers as available and possible.
- Collect fluids at 1026B using MPS and LVBS,
- Deploy GeoMICROBE sled at 1301A for short (few days) early part of cruise
- Deploy GeoMICROBE sled to 1026B (latter half of cruise, but not at end)
10. Download pressure data from 1301A and 1301B
11. Lift dive weights from top plug at 1301B, place on 1301A
12. Verify positioning of valves for subsequent drilling expedition
13. Recover 3 well-head OsmoSampler (with MBIO experiment) from 1301B
14. Redeploy 3 well-head OsmoSampler (with MBIO experiment) at 1301B
15. Probably recover 3 well-head OsmoSampler (no MBIO experiment) from 1301A
16. Probably redeploy 3 well-head OsmoSampler (with MBIO experiment) at 1301A
17. Download pressure data from 857D
18. Download pressure data from 1024C

Elevators must be connected similarly to the CORK or to MPU on Alvin basket (using a 'plug' connector. All these operations have been performed before.

If yes, please describe how the equipment is intended for deployment: MPU and one LVBS will be carried on Alvin Basket. Other pump and LVBS will be carred on standard Alvin elevators

Brief operations description or comments:All pressure vessels have been properly pressure tested. All in-sphere control boxes and laptops have been sniff tested. Electronic wiring diagrams and info for through-hull penetrators have been sent to ALVIN ETs.
Pressure test results, wiring and mechanical drawings of all equipment will be hand carried onto the ship
