Operations Area: North Pond

Lat/Lon: 22° 45.0′ N / 46° 5.0′ W

Depth Range: 4400 / 4600

Will the vessel be operating within 200 NM of a foreign country? We will be in the middle of nowhere
Are visas or special travel documents required? no

Science objectives

Collect fluids from the CORKs at North Pond. Recover the down hole samplers that are in the boreholes.  Fish for one sampler that was deployed within a CORK, much like we did with Alvin on the Juan de Fuca. Also collect fluid that vent from the CORKs and potentially measure flow rates.  Also download pressure data. Collect fluids for viruses (filter for 3 days)

Science Activities

Collect lots of water from the CORKs and recover the downhole instruments

Additional Information

Brief operations description or comments:
We need to recover the downhole samplers so we will need the sling and use Medea as a pulling system with a weak link or with the new single body Jason configuration

Also we will need to fish for one of the downhole samplers like we did with Alvin on the Juan de Fuca.
