Science objectives
This cruise is part of the OSNAP (Overturning of the Subpolar North Atlantic) program. It is the first of three legs for Year 1 of the program, on which the initial suite of moorings will be deployed. The primary goal of OSNAP is to better understand the subpolar north atlantic role in meridional overturning circulation. This cruise begins the set-up of the sound source array, and deployment of subsurface floats.Science Activities
1. Deploy three sound source moorings in the central North Atlantic. The deep moorings are approx. 3500 m, and sources will be attached to moorings at 1200 meters depth.2. Depoyment of approx. 10 RAFOS floats near the Charlie-Gibbs Fracture Zone.
