2018 Open Enrollment is now closed.


What is Open Enrollment?

Open Enrollment is an opportunity to re-familiarize ourselves with the many benefits WHOI provides and is your once-a-year opportunity to enroll and/or make changes to your benefit plans.

When is Open Enrollment?

Mark your calendars!  The Open Enrollment period for 2018 will be held from October 30 - November 15, 2017.  This year’s Open Enrollment will be an active enrollment.  This means that you must complete your online Open Enrollment elections for any benefits you wish to enroll in for 2018 no later than November 15, 2017.

If you do not enroll by November 15, 2017, you will be defaulted to No Coverage for all benefits for 2018.  You will not be able to make changes to your benefits until the Open Enrollment period for 2019 unless you experience a Qualified Life Event (such as a birth or marriage) and complete the enrollment process and notify HR within 31 days of the qualifying life event.  Changes must be consistent with the Qualified Life Event and IRS guidelines.


The 2018 Open Enrollment Form will be available Monday, October 30, 2017 on Employee Online.

Additional information on Open Enrollment will be provided once it becomes available.


ATTENTION: Information realted to Open Enrollment may be considered a summary of material modifications (SMM) to one or more of the WHOI benefit plans.  It contains a summary of important changes to the Plan(s). Please keep it with your Summary Plan Description, SMMs and other important plan documents. If there is any discrepancy between the terms of the Plan as amended, and this SMM, the provisions of the Plan, as amended, will control.
