If you are contacted directly by a member of the media, please transfer the call to the Media Office at ext. 3340. We can find out more about the project they are working on, and research their credentials and past work. We can also help schedule an interview time at your convenience and provide supporting visuals for the piece.
When the copy of the article/program comes out, we can feature it in WHOI in the News—a section on the home page of the Web site where we highlight media coverage of WHOI research.
All film production company requests need to go through the media office. We can escort the film crew while they are here and provide the necessary licensing paperwork giving permissions for the use of WHOI visuals/images in the project. All visuals — video, images, data, illustrations — need to be properly licensed through the Media Office in order to protect copyright and intellectual property.
Please do not sign any personal release forms or materials release forms provided by film production companies without having someone from the Media Office review it first.
