Effective Leadership Skills for Managers and Supervisors
October 20
9:00 to 4:00
Carriage House

Three key leadership qualities are motivation, communication and influence.  In this
seminar, participants will learn how to develop these qualities and create their own
leadership plan and strategy.  Skills will be learned and practiced in four key areas:

1. Develop a Leadership Presence - define leadership, look at leadership styles of self
and others and  develop skills of influence

2. Communicate for results - assess communication and facilitation skills in order to
make meetings work, practice coaching and feedback skills, and use proactive
listening to ensure results

3. Build a high performance team - rate your team's effectiveness, learn how to resolve
team conflicts, learn to motivate your team by defining your role as a team member
and explore your various roles as facilitator, trainer and supervisor within the team

4. Situational problem-solving - Co-active and proactive decision-making, assess your
change leadership abilities, learn how to not get ahead of your goals, and create a
culture of continuous improvement

This seminar uses interactive exercises, skill-developing activities, role plays and many
other intensive techniques designed to help create a practical, individual leadership plan.

Target audience:  Managers and supervisors in administration and research
