Group Training Facility - Clark 141

Instructor:  Chuck Denham
                   USGS

The "Intermediate Matlab Course" will consist of six two-hour workshops, for individuals who have already learned and used the basic Matlab language.  We will use the latest standard Matlab releases (Macintosh = 5.2; WinDoze = 5.3; Unix = 5.3), without additional MathWorks toolboxes.  Several public-domain toolboxes will be introduced, including NetCDF.

The lectures and work will be tuned to the individual needs of the participants, who will have joined the course with an actual work-project in mind.  Those who have laptop computers with a recent Matlab already installed may bring them, but the training facility will have Matlab installed on both PC’s and Macs.

                1 & 2: Handle-Graphics in all its detail.
                3 & 4: Data analysis.
                5 & 6: Building serious GUI tools.

Prospective attendees should contact the instructor at cdenham@usgs.gov to discuss the applicability of this course and a possible work-project.   Any questions about the course should also be directed to the instructor or you may check the URL at http://crusty.er.usgs.gov/~cdenham/matlab/course3.html

Participation is limited to 12 students - therefore, since we typically have waiting lists for classes, if you register but are unable to attend, please cancel as far in advance as possible.

This class is offered at no charge to employees, postdocs and students from the Woods Hole scientific community.  In order to accommodate Joint Program students during their IAP, this particular series of classes is offered with priority seating for them - others will be wait listed and notified by January 4th if space is available.

To register, please go to http://www.whoi.edu/education/stad and be sure to indicate your platform preference.
