Grievance
|
| Revision Date: | June 2004 |
| I. Employees
and Joint Program students who are dissatisfied with terms of employment
or working or academic conditions should discuss
the matter first with the appropriate supervisor or advisor. Should
the individual be reluctant to seek resolution
at this level, or should the supervisor or advisor not be able to
provide such resolution, the problem may be
discussed with the appropriate Department Chair or Administrative
Manager. If the problem remains unresolved, or if the individual
is reluctant to talk with anyone within the organizational unit,
the individual should contact the Human Resources Manager/EEO Officer, who is also the Institution's Title IX Coordinator. The Institution's Ombudsperson is also available to work with you to find a way to resolve your concerns in an informal manner acceptable to you and in a manner which would offer you as much privacy and confidentiality as possible.
II. Any individual who remains dissatisfied after the above may request that the Human Resources Manager/EEO Officer convene a Grievance Committee. This request must be initiated by completing the Request to Convene Grievance Committee form and submitting it to the Human Resources Manager/EEO Officer. If it is determined that a grievance committee is appropriate, it will be set up as follows: A. The Human Resources Manager/EEO Officer, as nonvoting Secretary, will be responsible for organizing the Committee and will see that the business of the Committee is carried out and its recommendations reported as specified below.III. Any employee or Joint Program student may use the Grievance Procedure and no penalty or recrimination of any kind shall be incurred as a result. IV. This procedure does not apply to dissatisfaction arising from personal problems with fellow employees or students, compensation, or to any right of continued employment or educational pursuit at the Institution.
