Overtime Pay for Graded Employees Working in Two Different Jobs

Date: February 12, 1976
Revision Number:
I. The Institution occasionally has graded employees working at their regular job during the normal 40 hour week, who also work in second jobs at the Institution, on an overtime basis as Shiptenders or other work.

II. The method used for overtime compensation will be in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act. This provides that overtime worked on such second jobs may be computed at 1 ½ times the established pay rate for the second job provided the employer and the employee agree in advance to use this method of computation.

III. Those individuals authorized to approve overtime payment must insure that the employee agrees, in advance, to this method of compensation when assigned to second jobs.

Should you require assistance in the interpretation  of this procedure, please contact your Human Resources Representative.
