Employee Recognition Celebration
Everyone was in good spirits as they gathered behind Fenno for a fun and relaxing afternoon at the 16th Annual Employee Recognition Celebration on September 8th . The weather was warm but a nice breeze helped to keep the party goers comfortable as they mixed with fellow employees to share stories and accomplishments of the last year. It was also a good chance to catch up with what many retirees have been doing lately. Family Foods provided a beautifully decorated buffet with many delicious offerings, and the WHOI Services team provided a variety of refreshing beverages as a compliment to the great food.
Kathy LaBernz, Human Resources Manager, and Jim Luyten, Executive Vice President and Director of Research, welcomed everyone and presented the awards. The Penzance Award went to Academic Programs. Nan Galbraith, Information Systems Associate III in Physical Oceanography, was the recipient of the Linda Morse Porteous award. Vicky Cullen, Executive Editor in Communications, was honored with the Vetlesen Award.

Peter Schultz, Research Associate I with AOP&E, was the first recipient of the Ryan Schrawder award.

Congratulations to Allan Gordon, who celebrated his 40th year of service this year! Allan received a travel gift certificate through Preferred Travel. Also, 10, 20, and 30 year awards were displayed and bestowed to 42 individuals for reaching those service milestones this year.

Thanks to the efforts of Mary Ann White, WHOI Travel Coordinator, there were really exciting Door Prizes at the party this year. Congratulations go out to Betsy Doherty, winner of 2 round trip airline tickets from Preferred Travel. Also, gift certificates for a one night stay at the Red Horse Inn in Falmouth were given to four lucky winners!
