WHOI's Webmail service
The webmail system at http://webmail.whoi.edu/
and also available using a Secure server at https://webmail.whoi.edu/
is easy enough to use right away, but as we develop more experience
with it we'll add items of interest on this page.
We would like WHOI email users to begin using webmail for their
away-from-the-office use. We need to decommission NSexpress soon
and have chosen July 1 as a reasonable date.
If there is any reason to delay replacing NSexpress with
webmail, please contact us at the CIS Helpdesk.
Details:
- A brief training for the new system will be available in
mid-May.
- webmail.whoi.edu is really imp (we thought it would be an
easier URL to remember). Some of you became familiar with imp
when it was offered as a trial service from aozora.whoi.edu.
- we prefer that all users use https://webmail.whoi.edu/,
which is the Secure server version, but some browsers are incapable
of handling the encryption necessary. If you try the secure
site and your browser crashes, you could consider upgrading
your browser.
- NSexpress has been used at WHOI for remote access to email
for almost 6 years. It is part of the very old Netscape Enterprise
Server suite, which we are eager to decommission.
If you have any difficulties or questions, please contact the
CIS Helpdesk.
