IBM and lenovo laptop battery recalls
September 2006
IBM's laptops are now manufactured and distributed by Lenovo so
it is the company actually doing the recall and battery swaps.
These recalls are similar to those issued earlier by Dell and
Apple and once again involve batteries made by Sony. This recall
is for laptops and replacement batteries sold between February
2005 and September 2006. If you have one of these Thinkpads you
should go to http://www.lenovo.com/batteryprogram
to determine if you have a battery that has been recalled and
if necessary arrange a battery swap. Not all batteries in these
models are subject to recall.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission gives some additional information
at http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml06/06270.html
