Date Field and File Format

If you've noticed the date fields of the matlab passcodes have a year that is all zeros, 0000, don't be alarmed. The newer generation of passcodes issued by MathWorks do not expire (they are perpetual licences) and this is reflected in the 0000 year.

You may also have noticed that some of the records in the license file end with a backslash, \. This is also normal. The newer generation of passcodes support this unix-style of line continuation. This tells the license manager to treat the line containing the backslash and the line following a backslash as a single line. You shouldn't normally need to alter the licenses by removing the backslash and joining the two lines as one. Though this won't hurt, you'll be making needless work for yourself.
