iPass - Windows client
Upgrade to version 3.35 (15Aug2005)
_____________________________________
A significantly improved iPass client is now available for Windows
2000/XP computers.
- Better connectivity using WiFi
- Improved visual cues for Wireless networks
- Faster startup and complete exit on close
- Deferred phonebook updates available
- Delta phonebook updates, where only changes are uploaded
We recommend that you initiate the update while on a faster medium
than dialup. It is a large update (over 8MB) and will take hours
depending on the modem speed achieved. The update is not optional
- you can delay the update for up to 3 times, but then it will
just download. Please follow one of the following update methods
and save yourself some frustration:
- Uninstall, download and install new version
- Update using the existing iPassConnect client over
a FAST connection
- Start the iPassConnect client while connected to WHOInet
(Ethernet)
- Update your phonebook by choosing Settings -> Update
-> Phonebook
- Then, select Settings -> Update -> Software
- Note: you may receive a message 'Software is up to date'
- Wait about 10 seconds and the update should start
- If it does not start, select the same link again. We are
not able to document exactly what to expect as we've seen
different behavior. What we know is that it WILL work if the
right combination for your installation of waiting and selecting
the update software link are found.
- IMPORTANT: do this before you travel - you do not
want to update the client over a slow modem connection.
