Networking
CIS maintains all the cables, fibers, switches, microwave equipment,
cable-TV network and other components that make up WHOInet. CIS
provides Ethernet network services to most of its buildings and
employees. There are about 2,400 network connection jacks available
in 32 buildings linked with 56 switches/routers. At present, there
are about 3,500 computers, servers, and printers connected. Connections
are usually made at 1000 Mbits/sec (1 Gb/sec).
