  • Tom Goux and Jacek Sulanowski from a Smithsonian Institution recording of their music "Born of Another Time: Songs of the Sailors - Songs of the Sea" (Folkways Cassette Series: 373500). The particular song featured on "Sound Waves" is "Hearts of Gold," a song whose lyrics were first recorded in the log of the whaler Bengal in 1832.   • Yara Cadwalader from a recording of her arrangements entitled "Tape of Brazilian Music at the MIT Chapel" (1992) recorded by Dick Campbell. Music by Cadwalader, Pinto and Pixinguinha. Arrangements by Yara Cadwalader. Performers:

Special thanks to the following musicians for providing us with selections of their music to be used in future expanded versions of "Sound Waves." Please check them out -- Woods Hole is fortunate to be home to so many fine and various musical talents.

  • Jella Atema provided us with a recording of the MIRO String Quarter (with Jella Atema as guest flutist) from a benefit concert performance held on August 29, 1998, for the Graduate Students of the Boston University Marine Program (BUMP) in the Marine Biological Laboratory's Lillie Auditorium. On this occassion, the Quartet performed Haydn's String Quartet, Mozart's Flute Quartet in A Major and Smetana's String Quartet "From My Life." The MIRO Quartet has won several major musical prizes. Jella Atema is director of BUMP.
  • Joe Sutton provided a rocking recording of his band "Joe Sutton and the Safe Sextet" from their album "Rockin' Blues to Move Your Shoes." For further information, please contact Joe Sutton at (508) 548-7440 or Bob Vander Pyl at (508) 457-0864. The band is available for bookings.
  • Pat Ryan provided us with a recording of his original guitar jazz composition "Waiting for Spring" performed for the Cape Cod Jazz Society's production "Just Jazz."
