The Forum holds public meetings before town elections, Town Meeting, and, when pertinent, on local issues. In addition, in 1999-2000 the Forum sponsored two public meetings at which Eastham's Recycling Committee presented the concept/program "Pay by the Bag" for solid waste disposal, which has been successful in many communities, resulting in more recycling, thereby containing the expected rise in disposal costs. The Forum organized the annual bayside beach cleanups and Coastsweep; maintained 15 flower islands and Town Hall's garden; sponsored a Forum Water Tent at Windmill Weekend which combined "groundwater awareness" activities with Water Resources Advisory Committee water testing and information; monitored town boards; promoted undergrounding of utility wires in the vicinity of Windmill Green, affordable housing, and measures and tools to plan for expected increases in development, water use, and traffic.
