The Conservation Commission is made up of seven appointed volunteers who administer and enforce the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act and the Chilmark Wetlands Protection Bylaws through a permitting process, manage open space and conservation lands, develop open space plans, initiate conservation programs, advise town agencies on resource protection, participate in agriculture preservation, and educate local citizens. There are currently no special programs, resources, services, activities pertaining to public education. Copies of the Rules & Regulations are available for $10 (plus $2.50 if mailed) or at no charge over the Internet (see WWW address above). Filing fees vary according to proposed project.
