The CCCHFA is a member-based, non-profit organization actively
campaigning for a healthy marine environment that supports a secure
and viable future for sustainable commercial fisheries. We educate,
support and empower the fishing industry and the public to affect
policy changes that integrate environmental, social and economic
issues.
PUBLICATIONS: "Hooked on Cod" newsletter.
OTHER INFORMATION: Membership dues: Industry: Captain-$500, Crew-$250,
Part-time-$100; Supporting, $35 and up. Membership brings the newsletter
and advance notice of special events.
SPECIAL PROGRAMS: The Shanty Community Fisheries Action Center
provides a resource for all to learn about fisheries issues, including
special events, lectures, discussions, lending library of books
and videos - the coffee pot is always on! Also do outreach presentations
for community groups as well as in-class and field-based fisheries
lessons to school groups. We host teacher training workshops that
help integrate local fisheries knowledge into MCAS curriculum standards.

A private, nonprofit land trust established in 1962 accepting land
donations and gifts to preserve open space land in the Town of Chatham.
The Foundation owns and maintains 540 acres of conservation land
and maintain four walking trails. Trail Guides to Foundation property
are free at the Mayo House and at the Chatham Chamber of Commerce
visitor's booth on Main Street. The Foundation is an associate member
of The Compact of Cape Cod Conservation Trusts, Inc.

FEES: Annual membership: Associate - $25; Sponsor - $50; Family
- $100; Benefactor - $500; and Lifetime - $2,500. Membership about
900.
SPECIAL PROGRAMS: The Josiah Mayo House, an historical house on
540 Main Street, Chatham, is open to the public in the summer. Built
in 1821 this home was the post office under Post-master Josiah Mayo.
Call for visiting hours. The Foundation maintains four walking trails
for members and the public at large.

A nonprofit, informational resource for members and other interested
parties concerning the condition, development, and preservation
of Chatham waterways and adjoining lands and to take action on these
issues in furtherance of the Associations interest. Primary interest
is the development of recreational and economic uses of the waterways
compatible with the protection of the natural resources and the
character of the area. Additionally, the Association has an interest
in broader municipal issues that may have an impact on Chatham's
maritime heritage or upon the natural environment of the community.
PUBLICATIONS: FCW has published “Decades of Dedication,”
the story of FCW volunteering to improve and protect the town’s
waterways and adjoining lands. FCW has also published "An Economic
Study of the Town of Chatham, Massachusetts" for the purpose
of identifying the town's most important economic assets in order
to preserve them (available on request). The plan is to be used
by the Board of Selectmen, those working on the town's long range
comprehensive plan, other town officials and voters at town meetings,
when facing decisions about handling the growing population pressures
on the town.

SPECIAL PROGRAMS: FCW sponsored and helped bring to completion
the Comprehensive Management Plan for Stage Harbor and is now working
on its implementation and expansion to manage the South Coastal
Chatham Waterways. Public forums on issues affecting coastal communities,
such as Chatham, e.g.: water quality (drinking water, coastal embayments,
nitrogen loading, wastewater management), coastal/barrier beach
erosion, and aquaculture.

A non-profit organization working to promote and safeguard the
environmental quality of Pleasant Bay including boating safety,
protecting fisheries, water quality, development of bayside public
lands, and to educate the public about habitat and conservation
issues. Regional cooperation among towns has succeeded in securing
Area of Critical Environmental Concern (ACEC) designation, zoning
bylaw and Board of Health bylaw harmonization and upgrading, and
action on stormwater runoff.
