The conservation commission is made up of seven appointed volunteers
to administer and enforce the Massachusetts Wetland Protection Act
and local wetlands protection bylaws, acquire and manage open space
land, develop open space plans, initiate other conservation programs,
advise town agencies on wetlands resource protection, participate
in agriculture preservation and educate local citizens.

Primary duties are to enforce federal, state, and town laws, bylaws,
rules and regulations pertaining to conservation, boats, dogs, fish
and game, herring, shellfish, waterways and wetlands; and to manage,
protect, and enhance same; and to educate the public regarding them.
Additional duties include assisting boaters in distress and responding
to other maritime emergencies; operation of the Monument Beach,
Pocasset River, and Taylor Point Marinas, as well as the Pumpout
Boat Program; maintaining town navigational aids, the mooring permit
system, the beach parking permit system, and the shellfish permit
system; and the management and propogation of the shellfish beds.
The DNR also assists and works with other federal, state, and town
agencies with law enforcement and emergency response, as needed.

Marina Rates: Vary from $85-$126 per foot with 20-24 foot
minimums.

The Board of Health enforces the Massachusetts General Laws, the
state Sanitary Code, the state Environmental Code, and local health
regulations. This includes, but is not limited to, the location,
construction and repair of septic systems, hazardous material storage
and disposal, solid waste disposal, bathing water quality, private
water supplies, private wells, and non- community public water supplies.
The board regulates the use of pesticides/herbicides. The board
conducts septic certifications for most building permits and witnesses
all title transfer inspections.
