R/V KNORR cuts through harsh Labrador Sea conditions during the winter Deep Convection Experiment (Feb--Mar 1997). Waves such as these caused continual ice build-up on the ship.
	Crew and Scientists from the R/V Knorr pounded ice off the ship every few days using wooden mallets.
