Research Interests
My research interests are primarily in the dynamics of atmosphere-ocean interactions of the tropical climate system, their variability on seasonal, interannual, and decadal timescales, and their role in climate and climate changes.
My current research activities fall into three general categories: the role of synoptic-intraseasonal atmospheric forcing in ENSO irregularity, dynamics of the Indian Ocean climate variability and its relation with ENSO, the development of time-dependent air-sea heat fluxes over the global oceans. My efforts are aimed at gaining physical understanding of air-sea interaction processes and their connections with major climate signals through the use of data analysis, numerical modeling, and data assimilation approaches.
