The Voyager II landed the research team of six and their cargo at Malone Bay on the south central shore of Isle Royale. The equipment was staged for ‘the portage’ at the Ranger station on the Bay. A few curious onlookers volunteered to carry the odd piece into the basecamp on Siskiwit Lake about 1 ¼ miles to the NW of Malone.
