The next day dawned calm, and the remaining equipment was loaded onboard the catamaran. The large [8"] diameter "sphincter" core system can be seen on deck. The corer was designed to capture a meter long sample of exceptional 'volume' while preserving the sediment/water interface in an undisturbed condition.
