Available Sampling Systems - O.I. Multicore
The Ocean Instruments multicore tripod can deliver up to eight 80 cm long 4 inch O.D. corers to the seafloor. When on bottom, the weighted central spider slowly penetrates the group of rigid plastic core barrels to minimize stratigraphic disturbance. Before the tripod leaves the seafloor, the top and bottom of each core barrel are positively sealed to protect the fragile surficial sedimentary structures during recovery of the instrument.
