Coastal Group Research
Research conducted by the coastal group at WHOI is practically oriented, offering scientific insight towards real-world problems. Issues such as rising sea level, storm activity, and climate change are all important aspects of our projects. To answer fundamental questions regarding coastal processes, we travel to places that best represent the processes to be studied, whether that may be the Indus River Delta, the Caribbean Basin, or our own backyard here on Cape Cod. Working in the field is a critical element of understanding how coastlines evolve, and is a major component of our research. At the same time, we rely on the unique facilities and techniques available at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution to produce data and address inquiry rigorously.
