Macellomenia Simroth, 1893.

Type species. --Paramenia palifera Pruvot, 1890, by monotypy.

Distribution. -- Irish Sea (?M. palifera ), West European Basin (M. aciculata ), Mediterranean (M. palifera ), 80 to about 2,500 m.

Spicules solid, distinctive, with a short or long rounded needle arising at an angle from a flattened, adpressed, rimmed pedestal; radula tiny, monostichous denticulate bars; ventral salivary glands opening through single duct; seminal receptacles tubular, large; without copulatory spicules; respiratory gill folds large; presence of dorsoterminal sense organ not determined.
