The Prototype Implementation Group or P.I.G. Lab, founded by
Don Peters in 1996, functions as a team of engineering consultants.
Projects taken on by the group vary in scope from production
of individual components to complete system design. The members
of the group have completed formal training in Mechanical Desktop,
the AutoCad-based parametric modeling and drafting. Modeling
techniques are standardized, and part and assemby models can
readily be shared. This, along with the standard drawing-numbering
system used since 1994, results in a high degree of standardization
in both our modeling and drafting. A project library accessible
to all members of the group is maintained on a central file
server.
In all cases, the output from the group is not merely the finished
parts, but also documentation of the work in the form of a complete
and accurate mechanical drawing package. The emphasis on solid
documentation is central to the idea that our product is not merely
finished parts, but sound engineering.
