Research Description
My research involves using observations of sediment transport procceses
to understand how small scale processes such as bedform migration control
larger scale sediment distribution patterns found on continental shelves
and estauries. The research can often be broken in two types: the studies
invovling fine sediment (mud), and those involving coarser sediments (sand),
although sometimes the two overlap.
In sandy envirnoments I have been studying the evolution and migration
of wave orbital scale bedforms in coarse sands. These were examined at
LEO-15
where they were found on the crest of a shore oblique ridge. More recently
I have investgating how these small scale bedforms relate to the evolution
of rippled scour depression found on the South Coast of Martha's Vineyard.
I am also collaborating with
Naval Research Laboratory
Investigators on a ONR Mine
Burial Prediction Program.
In finer sediments we have.....
