list of abstracts by session, abstracts
organized by session and review
papers are now available for download in pdf
form.
A download site has been
created with folders for each session into which
authors can download preprints or other material
relevant to their papers. This site is password
protected and the password has been sent to
everyone registered for the workshop. Anyone
downloading material to this site is responsible
for ensuring that copyright and pre-publication
embargoes imposed by journals are honored. Please
submit your material keyed to your abstract
number in the complete
abstract list. For example, if you are submitting
a pdf file in support of abstract EM5-4, the
filename would be EM5-4.pdf.

| The International Workshop on Electromagnetic
(EM) Induction in the Earth is the premier venue
for EM researchers around the world to exchange
research results and new developments. The 16th
bi-annual workshop will be held at the College
of Santa Fe, Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA from
June 16 through June 22, 2002. A map
of the college campus is available.
EM measurements provide a unique view of the
Earth because of the sensitivity of electrical
conductivity to temperature, fluids, ore minerals,
and lithologic variations. This sensitivity
is important in monitoring environmental problems,
exploring for energy and mineral occurrences,
investigating regions of potential natural hazards
(seismic and volcanic), and studying the interior
structure of the Earth and other planets. Technical
sessions addressing these issues are the primary
focus of the EM Workshop. Persons interested
in contributing to the workshop as presenters
or delegates are encouraged to attend.

Santa
Fe
Santa Fe is the second oldest city in North
America, and is the capital of the State of
New Mexico. Its population is about 60,000.
Both English and Spanish are universal local
languages. The summer climate is dry, with average
low and high temperatures of 10° and 28°C.
Santa Fe is a center for many types of artistic
activities with many art galleries and an open
air opera in the summer. It is also world renowned
as the focus of the unique New Mexico cuisine,
with numerous high quality restaurants. Further
information about Santa Fe may be found at http://www.santafe.org

SEMI
pre-workshop
SEMI
(Summer Electromagnetic Immersion) will provide participants
intensive, hands-on immersion in the latest electromagnetic
methods featuring equipment manufacturers and software
developers. SEMI will take place at the College of
Santa Fe (CSF), New Mexico, USA from Thursday, June
13, 2002 through Saturday, June 15, 2002, the three
days immediately proceeding the 16th EM Workshop.
SEMI will
be an interactive, informational, and educational
experience involving EM equipment and processing software.
It is intended for persons at all levels of proficiency
from experienced practitioners to beginning students.
SEMI attendees will be introduced to the latest geophysical
EM equipment and will use it in the field under the
guidance of company representatives. The data collected
will be analyzed with state-of-the-art software so
that initial interpretations can be made. SEMI will
be especially valuable for university students worldwide
and those who will benefit from intensive, practical
exposure to modern EM applications.
The following
companies will participate in SEMI: EiKon Technologies,
Electromagnetic Instruments (EMI), Geometrics, Geonics,
Geophex, GSY-USA, Phoenix Geophysics, Sensors & Software,
and Zonge Engineering and Research Organization. Field
equipment will include time and frequency domain EM
units ranging from shallow sensing ground penetrating
radar and hand-held, multiple frequency units to deep
probing broad band magnetotelluric systems.
All SEMI participants will stay in the dormitories
at the College of Santa Fe. The registration fee for
SEMI is $120 for full delegates and free to students.
This includes bus transportation from the Albuquerque
airport to the College of Santa Fe (~ 100 km), 3 nights
lodging, 3 breakfasts, and 2 lunches at the CSF.
