SANDY WILLIAMS is the COFDL lab head. A physicist, by degree, Sandy has an interest in: He has overseen the development of many Benthic Acoustic Stress Sensor (BASS) and vorticity meters,
which are capable of measuring velocities at scales small enough to observe turbulent boundary flow fluctuations.

JIM LEDWELL is the COFDL alternate lab head. His current interests include:

ROCKY GEYER is an estuarine physical oceanographer whose current research involves: JOHN TROWBRIDGE, an ocean engineer by degree, is a hydrodynamicist whose interests include mechanics of: JIM IRISH is a physical oceanographer and ocean technologist with interests in: GENE TERRAY is a physicist who specializes in signal processing and is interested in: TIM DUDA is an oceanographer with interests in:

DENNIS J. McGILLICUDDY is an oceanographer specializing in physical-biological interactions;
his research interests include:

JIM EDSON is an adjunct scientist from the University of Connecticut and a marine meteorologist
interested in atmospheric turbulence and air-sea interaction. His research in these fields focuses on processes
that affect the transfer of heat, momentum and mass in the marine surface layers.

BRITT RAUBENHEIMER  is an oceanographer specializing in surf and swash zone processes.
Her research interests include:

STEVE ELGAR is an oceanographer specializing in nearshore processes including:

During the 1990s, Steve and colleagues investigated nearshore processes near Duck, NC.
Recently, Steve and his colleagues have been studying the effects of abrupt submarine canyon
bathymetry and large, crater-like holes in the beach on nearshore waves, currents, and morphology.
Current interests also include studies of pathogens in beach sands and kokanee spawning gravels at
Lake Pend Oreille. Additional information can be found on Steve's WWW site.
