Overview of Research and Teaching Interests

• I am interested in the application of  wavelet,  differential-geometric, and  machine learning  methods to problems of image analysis, computer vision, and scientific visualization  in marine biology.
• I am also very interested in applications of stochastic processes, dynamical systems, and computational learning theory to the  bioinformatics  and systems biology of marine organisms.
• I teach in the MIT/WHOI Joint Program.  I am very interested in the teaching of applied mathematics from the perspective of oceanography.  I am also very interested in the teaching of bioinformatics from the perspective of marine biology.
