Research InterestsUsing a combination of field measurements and observations and laboratory experiments, my research addresses questions that focus on the contribution of Bacteria and Archaea to the health and ecology of marine organisms. I am also interested in how animal-associated microbes reflect the alterations occuring in their surrounding marine environment. My current research uses traditional microbiology, microbial oceanographic, genomic, metagenomic and bioinformatic tools to examine the microbiomes of reef-building corals and marine mammals.
