| Brief description of planned ROV Drill System work: Several transects of ~ 1inchx20inch drill holes are proposed in variably altered peridotite bedrock and hydrothermal vent chimneys composed of carbonate. ~ 3-5 reamed holes (~ 3 inch diameter, 20 inches long) will be completed for instrumentation using microbial incubators developed by Kelley (same instruments as those deployed in Endeavour sulfides in 2005)

| Brief description of planned ROV Drill System work: 35 day cruise will be requested. We need to sample large blocks in a debris avalanche for petrology and mineral alteration. We anticipate 4 full days devoted to use of the rock drill. Lithologies include basalts and andesites, dikes and lavas.

| Brief description of planned ROV Drill System work: I would like to use the rock drill to collect hydrothermal sulfide core samples from the Endeavour segment vent field. I would try to collect 6-8 core samples each year in 2008 and 2009. The holes would not be instrumented following the coring. I expect that two dive days would be required each year to obtain these samples.
