MissionThe mission of the web group is to facilitate the timely electronic dissemination of oceanographic information, especially the work of WHOI investigators and students, and support the web needs of the WHOI community.
Goals- Improve visitors' experience at WHOI.edu and attract additional visitors
- Provide web-based tools and applications to increase efficiency and effectiveness of WHOI staff
- Enable content owners to manage their web content with minimal technical effort
- Convey at WHOI.edu the excitement and breadth of WHOI investigators' and students' science and engineering research
Strategies
- Provide state-of-the-art web infrastructure
- Adhere to editorial, design, and technical standards and guidelines for WHOI websites
- Establish efficient and effective workflow processes
- Promote awareness of online tools and educate the WHOI community in their use
- Develop innovative efforts to reach out and deliver web content
- Create a mechanism to prioritize and manage web projects (based on Communications plan, standards/compliance, and overall web project plan)
