Research Interests

Chemical cycling and isotopic fractionation of metals (Fe, Cu) and metalloids (Se, Ge, Sb) during alteration of the oceanic crust and in seafloor hydrothermal systems. Iron isotope geochemistry in coastal waters and estuaries. Iron and germanium isotope systematics in marine sediments (black shales, biogenic opal) and paleoceanographic implications. Experimental fractionation of iron isotopes by bacteria and the search of biogeochemical tracers of the deep biosphere.
