Input and fate of anthropogenic organic contaminants (e.g., PCBs, petroleum hydrocarbons) in the open ocean and coastal waters; contaminant biogeochemistry with a special emphasis on the roles of benthic organisms; development of coastal monitoring programs; translation of research results into information to support resource management decision making.
