High resolution multi-molecular stratigraphic records of N. Atlantic climate variability

The objective of the proposed research is to develop the first high-resolution, 0.5-million-year-long records of climate variability in the North Atlantic based on multiple molecular organic proxies. The construction of molecular records of such unprecedented detail is made possible through the use of new technology that both streamlines the analytical methodology and enhances the level of information available. I propose to construct records at two locations in the subpolar North Atlantic, yielding information that will serve to ground-truth existing molecular proxies, as well as to further our understanding of past climate variability in this region.
