Job Summary
This position reports to the Stockroom Coordinator and is a member of the Stockroom Team, which reports to the Procurement Manager. Works closely with all members of the WHOI community. As a member of the team, is responsible for contributing to and continually improving an efficient and cost-effective process designed to assist Institution staff in their stockroom needs, in compliance with Institution policies and government regulations. As a contributing member of the team, is committed to the common purpose, performance goals and approach for which team members hold themselves mutually accountable. Performance evaluation is based on a combination of team success and individual accomplishment. Requires some direction; work procedures are well-defined.

Major Duties
  • Performs all duties of a Stockroom Services Representative.

  • Contacts outside vendors and prepares stock orders as assigned by the Stockroom Coordinator or Assistant Stockroom Coordinator, using ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system. Expedites own stock orders. Adjust stocking levels to usage trends.

  • Is the principle trainer for the Stockroom Service Representative and Part-time Helper.

  • Fills in for Assistant Stockroom Coordinator as needed.

  • Works with material handling equipment, light vehicles, hand tools, scales, banding, and other general office equipment; may operate forklift (certification required).

  • May perform other related duties as the supervisor may, from time to time, deem necessary.


Job Specifications (Knowledge, skills and abilities normally required for competent performance in the job)
High school diploma required; 2-4years related experience. Must be able to exhibit intermediate computer literacy, hold a valid MA drivers license, and be able to lift up to 70 lbs. Must have knowledge of commonly -used concepts, practices and procedures within the field. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are essential, along with demonstrated initiative and a willingness to learn and share the learning.
