Job Summary Performs
a wide variety of electrical tasks in Institution buildings and
on ships.
Major Duties
- Constructs,
installs, and repairs electrical equipment and facilities ashore
and on board Institution vessels. Traces, identifies,
and corrects malfunctions and failures a great variety of commercial
and marine electrical circuitry.
- Assists,
as required, in design work for electrical installations and
constructs required units.
- Develops
material lists required for work and prepares requisitions for
approval.
- Works
with electrical meters and tools, mechanic's hand and power
tools, drill press, power saws, sheet metal tools, heavy equipment
(fork lifts, crane cars, and overhead cranes) and ship's electrical
equipment and machinery.
- Performs
such other duties as the supervisor may deem necessary.
Desired Education/Experience for Hiring High school or vocational school plus 1 year training school or apprenticeship in electrical trades; Massachusetts Electrician's License; knowledge of U.S. Coast Guard rules and regulations pertinent to installation of electrical cable and equipment; 5 years experience in electrical work. Valid MA driver's license and Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) required.
