Job Summary Reporting to the Mechanical Shop Supervisor, organizes and supervises all machinist activities and performs a wide variety of machinist tasks for all Institution facilities, including research vessels. Fabricates complex prototype instruments and devices for research; repairs and modifies ships' equipment. Major Duties
Desired Education/Experience for Hiring High school or vocational school plus 1 year of apprenticeship in tool and die or job shop; 10 years experience as qualified machinist in tool and die or job shop. Computer proficiency with common software applications (word processing & spreadsheets). Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to handle and resolve conflict situations; ability to lead projects and prioritize work; ability to handle administrative and financial aspects of the job.
