Job Summary Reporting to the Plant Supervisor, is responsible for monitoring, operating, repairing and installing mechanical and related facility process systems in Institution buildings and laboratories to ensure safe and efficient continued scientific and administrative operations and maintenance; work is in accordance with appropriate building codes and safety regulations. Position Oversight May work under the supervision of a Senior Plant Mechanic. Through training and/or work experience, is moderately skilled in several trades, enabling the application of technical knowledge to perform most assigned tasks independent of supervision; unusual and unprecedented situations are reviewed with senior colleagues. Major Duties
Desired Education/Experience for Hiring Trade school certification(s) representing demonstrated technical knowledge in several of the work areas, building codes and safety regulations related to the position or equivalent on-the-job training; 3 to 5 years directly related experience. Will be expected to qualify for required local, state and federal licenses and certifications. Must have demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment as well as commitment to working collaboratively with colleagues.
