Job Summary
Reporting to the Assistant Facilities Director, maintains and repairs Institution vehicles.

Major Duties

Maintains and repairs trucks, vans, passenger vehicles, fork lifts and other Institution owned vehicles.

Drives snow plow and sanding truck, occasionally drives tractor/trailer rigs.

Orders routine maintenance parts. Does building maintenance in emergencies.

Works with mechanic's tools, vehicles as above, valve grinder, presses, cranes, hoists and jacks.

Performs such other duties as the supervisor may, from time to time, deem necessary.

Desired Education/Experience for Hiring
High school or vocational school plus 2 years training in vehicle maintenance and repair; 4 years in automotive and equipment maintenance and repair; and a valid Massachusetts Commercial Drivers License (CDL) (Class A) with appropriate endorsements such as the Hazardous Materials endorsement.

As such, must have a certification or be able to pass a physical examination and pre-employment drug test in accordance with CFR 49, (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations). Continued employment in the position requires successful completion of random drug tests and, every two years, a physical examination as required by CFR 49.
