Job Summary
Without supervision, executes complex photographic assignments with understanding of the most effective means of providing the required results. Schedules own work, and may schedule work of other photographers within the department.

Major Duties
  • Performs complicated photographic procedures with unusual skill and effectiveness.
  • Responsible for upkeep and updating of traditional and digital photographic equipment.
  • Assists in record keeping and archiving of images.
  • Maintains an awareness of new techniques and methods of image capture and reproduction.
  • Works with traditional photographic equipment including darkroom equipment, film and paper processors, lighting equipment and cameras; digital photographic equipment including scanners, computers (using image manipulation and processing software), film recorders and other output devices.
  • Performs such other duties as the supervisor may deem necessary.


Desired Education/Experience for Hiring
Bachelor's degree in Photojournalism or related field or equivalent combination of education/experience. Considerable experience in photography, photo techniques, processing, and as a photo technician and/or photographer. Ability and willingness to go to sea may be required.
