Process Institution Visiting Scholar appointments are initiated by letter request, with a curriculum vitae of the candidate and an Institution Visiting Scholar/Guest Investigator Authorization form from the hosting member of the Scientific or Technical Staff. With the approval of the Department Chair or Center Director, the materials are forwarded to the Director of Research for final approval. If the appointment is approved, the Department completes an authorization and forwards it with the file to Human Resources. The Authorization Form must indicate if the appointment will have a fixed expiration date or if it is anticipated that there will be a long-term relationship between the host and the Institution Visiting Scholar. Long-term appointments will not expire, but Human Resources will, on an annual basis, require the Department Administrator or Manager to confirm that the relationship still exists. A report of Institution Visiting Scholar appointments is sent by Human Resources to the Director of Research for information purposes annually.
